Last night Carrie and I were discussing what song we should have for our dance.
Now I'm about as country as a skyscraper and she likes country. I'd rather poke my eyes out than listen to country but I deal with it because she likes it. But we do need a song we both like.
I had suggested 3 or 4 totally inappropriate songs like Dead Kennedy's Too Drunk to Fuck and had them shut down. *sigh*.
Then I put my real thinking cap on tossed out a half dozen more songs. We settled on Belinda Carlisile's I Get Weak.
There are two more songs we need to pick out. Neither one is going to come easy.
Since Carrie's family will have nothing to do with the wedding she's going to ask my step father, Jim, to walk her down the isle. This means we need to find a good "father-daughter" dance song. We're looking for something on the country side seeing as they both like county music but it's not easy finding something appropriate.
Next is the Groom/Mother dance. Maybe we could go with the Chicken Dance? Do the Twist with Chubby Checkers?
If anyone has a suggestion, please let us know!!

Get some oldies in there-"I got you babe" by the Temptations(I think)! I'm a rocker myself, but even I can listen to oldies every now and then
Right on about the oldies!
No matter what you pick, make sure it has a good dance beat, and get the dj to at least play the music soft enough so people don't have to shout in order to be heard by the person sitting right beside them. Most of the time music is far too loud and then nobody can hear each other when they talk.
I am sure with your silly sense of humor you are not about to pick Dead Kennedy song, whatever that is, but you made me laugh all the same.
You have an amazing sense of humor, so when things seem to get into a pressure kind of mode, or some idiot people say stupid things to get you riled, let your great sense of humor step in and shine.
I think you will have a really fabulous wedding, with the planning and the pay pal idea, two years should get you enough time to gradually and smartly accumulate the funds you need, without throwing you into the realms of debt. You are really wise with this plan. Good job guys!
