If you've every read my other blog you'll know a bit about Carrie and I. For those that haven't:
She's 26, born October 15, 1980. Grew up in the Kingston/Belleville/Trenton Ontario area. She has a seriously messed up family, mother, father, sister & brother which as of last night we will have no more contact with. I'll explain that in a bit.
I'm 36, born March 9, 1971. I've grown up all over the place but the majority of time was spent in Lower Sackville, NS. My family isn't perfect but compared to her's mine is at least stable.
Let's start with December 25, 2007: The Proposal
This is what Carrie wrote-
WOW I'M SO EXITED!!!!!!
Keith, Logan and I were opening gifts this morning. We let Logan open his right away as he was sooooo exited about Christmas. We opened a few gifts, each taking a turn opening a gift at a time.
I came to a gift that I wasn't expecting! I opened the box, and was in shock, it was a RING!! Then what came from Keith's mouth was what I took to be a joke, "Will you spend the rest of your life as my Bunker Monkey?" LOL it was sooooooo cute, like he didn't know what to say to me..... I did not answer him as I thought he was kidding around. I mean come on! It's not every day you get a proposal like that.
Anyways Logan opend more gifts, and Keith said "Mommy still has not answered my question yet!"
I said, "What?"
He said "Will you spend the rest of your life as my bunker monkey?".
I said, "You're not kidding, are you? YES I WILL!"
And then I cried.
We talked about a wedding before but never thought he was that serious as he is not one for getting married.
OH WELL I WILL BECOME MRS. Lavallee in 2010!!! I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!
It may not be the ring anyone else would have wanted, but I LOVE IT! I don't like it when someone spends lots on me, I'm happy with just something simple. GOD I LOVE IT. I can't stop crying. Happy tears that is.
Keith has made me the happiest person today.
Obviously she's excited.
Carrie started planning for the wedding on the 26th. Since then we've picked a date, July 17, 2010. We've made a "to do" list, made rough guest list, decided on where we'd like to have the ceremony, contacted those we'd like to have as Best Man and Maid of Honor (both have agreed) and have kind of decided on a theme(paintball).
Later in the day of the 25th Carrie called her friends and family (and mine) to give the news of the proposal. Most were happy for her. Her parents on the other hand were more interested in bragging about the 32" LCD TV they got from their other daughter. Real nice, eh? But Carrie plunged on and asked her dad to do the walk. He was happy about that and agreed.
Carrie had called her aunt earlier to get her address to send the invitations and was told it would be given her parents. So she called her parents.
Her dad made a comment about how Wanita probably wouldn't go to the wedding "because of the shit you've done to her."
According to Wanita, Carrie called the cops on her (no reason known or given) and Wanita wants to beat Carrie up know.
Then the shit did hit the fan. We were then accused of having pawned a "brass high chair" that her parents bought us when Logan was born. We've got several people that can confirm her family didn't even so much as buy a diaper for us. We were told to talk to my mother about it. This event had been brought up before and we had talked to her about it, which Carrie told her dad. His response was, "Well she's a fucking lying goof." He then hung up on her.
It's worse than that. The day after Logan was born Carrie and Wanita went outside for a smoke. At that time Wanita said to Carrie, "The baby is cute. He looks like Doug." Doug is Carrie's ex boyfriend. A few years after that Wanita called Carrie and told her that her grandmother died, then revealed it was a "joke".
So we're expected by them to forgive them of this type of crap. Yet we're held accountable for 2 fictional events?
As it stands now all of her family is off the list and out of our lives. Should they contact us in any way I'll tell them that any other contact will result in them being charged with harassment. Should they show up in person, charged with trespassing.
Of course Carrie was upset over this. She wanted to talk to my mother. They were on the phone for about an hour. Carrie had calmed down and was even laughing again (Thanks mom!). And more wedding suggestions were made.
So with in the last few days we've selected a paintball theme. We were looking at having the ceremony in Gananoque on the paintball field and a pot luck dinner for the reception. Now it's been suggested we have the ceremony/reception at my moms place in Roslin.
There's no telling how often this blog will be updated but keep an eye on it.
